Company History

Lewis W. Parker Sr. founded Parker Oil Company in South Hill, Virginia, in 1935 to deliver heating oil and other petroleum products to the area. Under three generations of Parker family leadership, the company has enjoyed steady growth and diversification.

Lewis brought his sons, Lewis Jr. and Charles, into the business, and they led the company through a period of impressive growth. Today, Charlie Parker heads the company that his grandfather founded. Our goal is simple: to provide customers with quality products and prompt, friendly service.

Today's Parker Oil Company is a diversified company that serves businesses and residences in southern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina with a range of energy-related products and services. We deliver oil, propane and other petroleum products, including green, renewable biodiesel, and service heating and cooling systems.

Our family of companies includes two Simmons Travel Centers, the Parker Fuel Freedom card fleet fueling system, the First Energy Corp. terminal facility in Richmond, 13 bulk plant locations, a chain of convenience stores, and an underground storage tank closure company known as Environmental Management Services.
