Lake Gaston Volunteer Fire Department is extremely proud of the high level of service it provides to the community and the key role it plays in the protection of the Lake Gaston and Bracey communities. Every member is an integral part of the service, from fire and life safety education, to emergency response. Lake Gaston VFD is committed and dedicated to meeting the demands of our growing area. The Lake Gaston fire district is approximately three miles wide and ten miles long and is unique in the total population it was on the weekends versus weekdays. This is a high weekend use area in the summertime with 80% of the homes being weekend/resort type on Lake Gaston and its 22,000 acres. Lake Gaston VFD offers fire, EMS (First Responder), and water rescue/dive team services. Our Mission: Lake Gaston VFD is committed to providing the highest level of life and property safety with caring professionalism through effective training, the delivery of public education, fire prevention, fire control, water rescue, and emergency management. Our Goals: To prevent fire emergencies from occurring, and educating the public in a variety of areas. This is accomplished through progressive fire prevention, public education and member training. We also control fire emergencies, assist at medical emergencies, perform complex rescues both on land and water and control diverse emergency situations through modern command and control structures. Lake Gaston firefighters are highly trained and skilled to respond to all kinds of emergencies from heart attacks to structure fires, marine calls to motor vehicle accidents. There is no greater feeling than when those skills are used to save a life or someone's home or business.
