Corps of teachers serving urban and rural public schools

Teach for America - Eastern North Carolina is building a force of leaders who work from inside and outside of the education system to ensure that all of our nation's children have the opportunities they deserve. We recruit our nation's most promising future leaders to commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders in the effort to solve the academic achievement gap that exists between children growing up in low-income communities and their more affluent peers. Our 2013-14 corps consists of 277 corps members teaching in 15 districts and five charter schools throughout eastern North Carolina. In the Lake Gaston region, these schools include Halifax County Schools, KIPP Gaston College Preparatory, Northampton County Schools, Warren County Schools and Weldon City Schools.
